If you've ever wanted a glimpse of heaven, the island of Oahu is a "must add" to your bucket list. I had previously been to Oahu some ten years back on a day trip from Maui, but the hustle and bustle of Honolulu didn't steal my heart the way the serene quiet of Makaha managed. Our family of fourteen rented a house right on the awe-inspiring shores of the island, providing us with a private sunset unlike any other, and a playground for my surfer brother to catch the daily thrill of Hawaiian waves.
